Today I Am a Crack Whore

One of the things I love most about Second Life is that I can be anything and anybody I want to on any given day.  Creators around the grid provide skins, hair, makeups, clothing, costumes, props, etc.  I can even change my sky to suit my mood.

I’ve fallen in love with skins for my avatar and am a compulsive collector.  I certainly buy enough of them and change them to fit my outfits, hair or mood.  If a hunt is on and I get free skins, even better – they all go into my bursting inventory to be sorted and cataloged.  I may never get a chance to wear all I have, but I sure as hell am having fun trying.

Occasionally, I will get a heads up from a friend or a notecard from a vendor about a free skin and damned if I don’t stop everything and run to grab it.  This week was particularly good.  PXL had a free group gift, Beauty Avatar had a free skin, so did Son!a.  A friend IM’d and said “OMG you HAVE to get the free skin at Staged!” and sent me the link.  I rushed to look and laughed when I saw the name of the skin, Crack Whore.  Yeah lol, and it was gorgeous.  Smeared make-up, runny mascara, chapped and burnt lips.  I knew I was going to have fun with that one so I grabbed it just before running over to Beauty Avatar and discovering the free skin was that of a vampire.  Perfect!

The first skin I tried on was the vampire.  There was a photo contest going on at Ali Couture (vote for me!) and the skin was perfect for the Halloween theme.  I spent some time turning my sim into a spooky, Gothic woods, invited a willing victim, spent some time finding just the right loincloth, a kick-ass friend to take a great snapshot and the photo shoot for the contest was on.  I loved the look of the skin so much, I ended up spending all day in it and my Sinister latex dress from Ali’s.  Nothing like roaming round shops with blood dripping down your lips.

Today, I was a crack whore.  Yeah, I REALLY needed to try that skin on and it was fantastic.  I spent some time

debating on what to wear with it.  I wanted messy, long hair for sure but what to wear?  Hmmm, I tried on a gorgeous leather number from XTC, but it was just too classy and I was sure my crack whore self would have sold it for a quick hit of the pipe.

My friend, also sporting the crack whore skin showed up and mentioned something about her ass showing and then I knew.  I’d wear the free ass crack jeans (hey, I didn’t name them!) I’d gotten in a hunt and really whore it up.  We then spent some time visiting stores in our crack head skins and then I came home to the sim where I rezzed the slum apartment I’d gotten for free on XStreet (thanks Jordy) and hunted for poses to best showcase my new skin.

She’s a pretty thing, my burnt out whore and sure to make some money for that hit she so desperately needs.  I really do hope she doesn’t turn to mainlining heroine, but sadly, that’s the road she’s on.

Maybe tomorrow, I’ll be a Pretentious Cunt (yes, that’s the name of a skin) like my friend over here who just got back from a drunken party and fist fight with paparzzi or maybe, just maybe a mermaid.  Something about the idea of leading men to their doom with my siren’s song just appeals, ya know?

See ya on the grid.  Who or what will you be?
